Yesterday morning, Governor Tina Kotek stopped at Tangent City Hall to meet with the City Council, Mayor, and Fire Chief of the Tangent Rural Fire District. This was part of the Governor’s tour, visiting every county in Oregon. At City Hall, Governor Tina Kotek toured the Bass Estates, learned about Tangent’s successful 50th-year celebration and challenges, and placed an item in the Time Capsule that will be opened during Tangent’s 100th Birthday.
After photos, Governor Tina Kotek and the Mayor went to the Dixie for lunch with Linn County Commissioner Sherrie Sprenger, Linn-Benton Community College President Lisa Avery, Mayor Adam Craven of Brownsville, and Mayor Jerry Lachenbruch of Halsey. The discussion revolved around the challenges and opportunities cities in rural Linn County face and brought awareness and potential solutions to Governor Tina Kotek.
Thank you to the Governor’s Staff for making Tangent their stop on the tour setting time to visit the City Council and City Hall. The Governor left with a copy of the points discussed regarding the City of Tangent.
If anyone knows or has photos of past governors who have stopped at Tangent for lunch, attended a meeting, or held an event, please let City Staff know. It appears this is the first time the Oregon Governor has visited Tangent in 22 years, but no recollection of one before yesterday.
